Tyson Beckford Net WorthOctober 17, 2018
Believe it or not, Tyson Beckford, an American fashion model and actor has a net worth of as much as $16 million. He first appeared as a preeminent face for opulent clothier Ralph Lauren, and soon afterward, he became the first African-American male supermodel.
He was born in 1970 to Jamaican parents. Actually, he spent his early childhood (up until he was seven) in Jamaica. When he came to New York, he went to Pittsford Mendon High School in an affluent suburb of Pittsford. It was already in his early twenties, in 1992, to be more precise, that he was recruited to hip hop magazine The Source. That helped him find an agent and begin modeling for Ralph Lauren.
Of course, once he achieved that, he had many opportunities opened, including print ads, appearance on television, and at various fashion events around the world. It didn’t take him long to get named a Man of the Year and one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World – that happened in 1995 already.
A couple of years later, he decided to make his feature debut with a cameo as himself in the Ben Stiller comedy Zoolander (2001). Only one year later, in 2002, he got a supporting role in a low-budget thriller Pandora’s Box, which was a great start. His other small-screen roles include Biker Boyz (2003) and Into the Blue (2005).
When it comes to TV, Tyson Beckford served as a correspondent on the magazine show Source All Access TV from 2000 to 2001. After that, he got guest spots on Half & Half (UPN, 2002-2006) and My Wife and Kids (ABC, 2000-2005).
In 2005, he survived a near-fatal car accident in Secaucus, New Jersey. Luckily, he recovered quite quickly, so in 2007, he started hosting the reality competition Make Me a Supermodel (Bravo, 2007- ) with fashion model Niki Taylor.
